KFON Project Launch

The Kerala Fibre-Optic Network (KFON) project got commissioned and then went LIVE state-wide on 5th June 2023. The Chief Minister of the State, in the presence of other Ministers launched the project. 140 Members of the Legislative Assembly/Counties spread across 14 districts of the State simultaneously launched the KFON project from their respective constituencies.

High-Level Scope of Work (SoW)

SRIT in consortium with BEL & Railtel put-up the KFON network infrastructure. SRIT’s Scope of Work (SoW) covered:

  • Build & furnish the Network Operating Centre (NOC) measuring ~3500sq.ft. in Info Park Kochi.

  • All Infrastructure including non-IT items and CCTV

  • 375 Prefabricated Telecom Shelters along with all Non-IT devices - Electrical work, UPS, AC, Access Control, Security Camera, Racks etc.

  • Surveyed approximately 50000kms of road-route and more than one million Electricity Poles to identify & ascertain optimum routes for Optical Fibre Cable (OFC) installation.

  • Carried out optimization of OFC routes in order to ensure that the length of OFC to be laid is optimized.

  • Designed the network based on the design parameters specified in the RFP. Prepared design drawings of more than 30000kms OFC in GIS platform based on the surveyed data.

  • Instal more than 30000kms of OFC and splice the same.

  • Instal more than 8,00,000 cross-arms, 7,50,000 tension-clamps, and 3,80,000 suspension clamps.

  • Capture details of OFC and thousands of accessories in the GIS platform.

  • Test OFC and prepare end-to-end documentation like OTDR report, LSPM report for more than 30,000 end-office locations

  • Verify Test Reports and get approval from the customer’s expert-level Third-Party Auditors.

  • Prepare As-Built drawings after capturing the details of all materials & equipment installed in the GIS platform.

  • Prepare Telecom Data Model for automatically identifying the faults, and display such faults in the GIS map for rectifying faults as per SLA & other Ops.Mgt. functions.

  • O&M for NOC, Telecom Shelters/POPs and OFC for seven (7) years.

  • Develop & Implement end-to-end Revenue-Cycle-Management Software for managing the revenue, all subscribers, and last-mile service delivery partners.

  • Develop, Configure, Customize & Implement the GIS platform (ESRI software), Integrated Building Management Software (IBMS) and end-to end Project Management System software.
